Dr. Patterson received her veterinary degree from The University of Pennsylvania in 2004 and then completed a rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. She spent 2 years practicing emergency and family medicine in New York and Hawaii before pursuing a residency in Emergency and Critical Care at Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers NY. She completed her residency and became board certified in emergency and critical care in 2011. She stayed at ASC to lead the emergency and critical care department until 2013 when she moved to Virginia Beach to establish a specialty referral hospital for BluePearl, where she worked until 2017. She left to provide locum critical care and consulting services to a variety of specialty and emergency hospitals throughout the state.

Dr. Patterson enjoys the challenge of treating complicated cases as well as acute or severe complications of chronic illness. She is most interested in sepsis, trauma, and transfusion medicine but enjoys treating pets with all types of emergent illnesses. She is excited to return to providing advanced care to the pets of the Virginia Beach area at Bay Beach Veterinary Hospital.

Off duty, Dr. Patterson enjoys travel, triathlon, surfing, and almost any other water-related activity as well as spending time with her two- & four-legged family.
